Kevin Costner's POWERFUL Message (Whitney's Funeral)

Today as one of God's Angels, Whitney Houston was sent home,  I couldn't help but to take heed to the message her friend Kevin Costner delivered. The first message Kevin brought across was never judge a book by it's cover. While no one would have known upon first look, Kevin assured the WORLD that he, like Whitney Houston had come up in the Baptist Church. His wittiness brought forth a good humor in the midst of the funeral as he told stories about his time in church, stealing the communion juices and knocking them back.

But the message that stuck with me was when Kevin Costner spoke about Whitney's insecurities. Whitney Houston, "The Voice," that nobody until this day can mess with still had insecurities. She was doing what God called her to do, yet she was still doubtful and full of fear when going up for that role in "The Body Guard." Costner insured though, that even though she was experiencing all of that, "The Game Was Rigged." No matter what would happen, he would make sure she STILL got the role. No matter what, the role was set aside for her. His message made me tear.

Often times when we are called, even with the looks and the talents, we sometimes face some of the same insecurities as Whitney did. You know how you want to do something, but fear takes over. You have your mind set on something, then doubt over takes you. You know you're the best at what you do, but still you have to wonder are you good enough. Well Kevin let us know, that when God has called you to do something, it is for YOU to do. God will "rig the game" for you. You don't have to have a doubt, or fear in the world. What God has for you, it is for YOU.

Jeremiah 29:11 states For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

I hope this message blesses someone.

Whitney Houston's Funeral Arrangements

Today Legendary R&B Singer Whitney Houston will be sent off in a major way. While her family wanted the funeral to be private, they are now allowing it to be broadcast via television and web.  The funeral will be held at Houston's home church New Hope Baptist in Newark, NJ. The funeral is said to be a star studded home going. B.E.T. will began covering it at 11:30 am. "The Homegoing of Whitney Houston."  E! gets started early. They will began airing at 8:30 am. with a special called, "Whitney Houston: The Funeral." Fuse, CNN and FOX are also scheduled to cover the funeral.

Pastor Marvin L. Winans, who was a good friend of Houston is doing the eulogy. Winans also married Whitney and her ex-husband Bobby Brown in 1992. Aretha Franklin, Whitney's Godmother has been asked to sing at the funeral. The funeral begins at 12 noon. A host of other celebrities are in line up to appear in the 1500 seat New Hope Baptist on today.

Her close friend Ray J, Bishop T.D. Jakes who worked on her last film, "Sparkle," Chaka Khan, Bebe and CeCe Winans, Dione Warwick, L.A. Reid, Rev. Jessie Jackson and a host of others are slated to attend. Her ex husband Bobby Brown is said to be in attendance accompanying the couple's daughter Bobbi Kristina's side.

A hearse arrived at the funeral home where her body is being taken care of, surrounded by tons of police escort. Fans gathered outside of the funeral home, playing and singing her songs.

MTV Names Jay-Z #6 For Hottest MC's in 2011

MTV's Hottest MC's is soon to air and they are dropping video after video with their list of the hottest MC'S in 2011. #6 though MTV??? The hype alone behind "Watch the Throne" along with the fire tour last year should have him at least at number 4. I definitely want to know who are in the top 5.

Young Jeezy's "Leave You Alone" is one of my favorites on his last EP TM103. I've been in a situation like this. It is so hard to leave the thug dudes alone though. In the back of your mind you know, and you say it, but in your heart you want to stay. Ne-yo's vocals make this for a cute girl crazed single. I like how Jeezy used The Roots. The live band effect is always a plus when doing shows.

Singer Melonie Fiona dropped a new single which features B.O.B. It is called, "Change the Record." I always like Melonie's songs. This one is more upbeat, but I am definitely feeling the lyrics. "Cause you could do better. If you don't like how he's playing then change the record." Really!

The NAACP did a tribute to Whitney Houston on last nights Image Awards. Gospel Singer Yolanda Adams had the privilege of singing throughout the tribute. The tribute was really sweet. Shout out to the NAACP.

Rihanna and Chris Brown Reunite?

Word is Rihanna and Chris Brown are working together on the remix of her single "Birthday Cake." The two were spotted outside of her party, in which they both attended. Not sure if the two are getting back together or if they've only decided to be just friends. Chris was just spotted in Miami with his new girlfriend Karriche. 

NBA All Star Weekend Celebrity Line Up

The 61st annual NBA All-Star Game will be loaded with star power in Orlando, Florida next weekend. The league’s announced its performers for this year’s event, headlined by Nicki Minaj who’ll be performing during the player introductions of the big game on Sunday, February 26. Pitbull and Ne-Yo will hit the stage during halftime, while Mary J. Blige has been chosen to sing the the U.S. national anthem prior to the game. J. Cole and Gym Class Heroes will entertain us during the pre-game show, and finally will.i.am and Flo-Rida will perform during the NBA All-Star Saturday Night events on Saturday, February 25.

Monica Sings Tribute to Whitney Houston

When the Grammy's announced that they'd have a Whitney Houston tribute after her sudden passing, my sister and I longed to hear Monica singing it. We had once heard Monica sing a tribute to her on a prior award show.   Clive Davis and crew had a different plan though. They used the expected, Jennifer Hudson. While Jennifer did a good job, the tribute was short and there just could have been more to it. Well people are doing their own tributes and I am happy that at a recent concert in Hartford, Monica did one. Monica, vocals are often slept on, because of her slew of gangster love ballads after her love affair with New Orleans Rapper C.Murder. But she definitely has the talent and the voice. Jennifer Hudson Salutes Whitney Houston at Grammy's

A slim and trim Jennifer Hudson was selected to sing the tribute song to Whitney Houston on last night's Grammy Awards. Of course it was such short notice, but with the lack of vocal credibility in the music industry now, Jennifer Hudson is the "go to" girl. A nervous and almost in tears Jennifer Hudson ripped the tribute to the best of her ability (with her new body) and all. Of course, she just couldn't hit that Whitney note, but for what it was worth, she did a good job.

L.L. Opens the Grammy's in a Prayer

I've always respected L.L. Cool J and looked at him as one of the greatest rappers of all time, but last night's Grammy's proved to me that he is not only a great rapper, but a great MAN all around. In honor of Whitney Houston, L.L. Cool J opened the Grammy's in PRAYER! I'm talking about a room full of people of all kinds of Faiths and Beliefs bowed their heads to PRAY to ONE GOD! I don't know about ya'll but I honestly believe God is shaking things up in the secular world for a reason. The world will know, there is a GOD. L.L. kept it short and sweet, but I felt the Spirit of the Lord all through that prayer. *Shouts Halleluah to the Most HIGH*

Nicki Minaj Shocks Grammy's with Exorcist Themed Performance

Nicki Minaj who was introduced by a handsome, suited Drake displayed her acting skills last night on the Grammy's. "Roman Holiday" displayed Nicki as the crazed Roman Zolanski (Her Alter Ego), who's mother called a Priest to perform an exorcism on her to get the demons OUT. It was no coincidence to me that she used a Roman Catholic Priest to do the exorcism, because that's where the whole process originated from. Although her acting skills were superb and she acknowledge the CHURCH in a major way on the biggest secular music award show out, alot of the Christians had a problem with her performance. I personally didn't see what the big deal was. If exorcisms are to get the EVIL out of a person,

why are they so mad at Nicki? A day earlier Nicki hinted to what she was trying to do via her Twitter.com page. She posted a tweet that read:

Even Nicki Minaj realizes who holds all POWER -JESUS. Before us Christians are so quick to judge, we should really sit back and consider what the root of the problem is. Also if we're going to be so extra deep about things, we may need to not engage in watching secular activities. The Stellar Awards should be far less offensive to us. I did say should be, but even I know Christians will have something negative to say about them as well.  #PrayfortheCHURCH

Whitney Houston's Daughter Rushed to Hospital

It is a must that we pray for the Brown family. Whitney Houston's only daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown (18) was rushed to an L.A. hospital for anxiety attacks. It is obvious she is not taking her mother's death well. This will not be easy for her with the media constantly bringing up her and her mother's background with drugs. 

R.I.P. Whitney Houston

The Legendary Whitney Houston was found dead in her hotel's bathroom emerged in a tub of water. According to reports, her hairstylist got concerned after Whitney went into the bathroom and hadn't come out for an hour. Reports are saying she over dosed on prescription meds and laid in the tub and drowned. Whitney was in L.A. in to attend tonight's Grammy Awards. Hopefully the Grammy People and her good friend Clive Davis do her justice on tonight's show.

This report really saddens me. As a little girl Whitney was someone who I grew up listening to. I remember I would walk back and forth through our shot gun house in New Orleans singing her "I Will Always Love You" hit all day. While my singing career was short lived, Whitney's wasn't. She has won 415 Awards, 2 Emmys, 6 Grammys, 22 American Music Awards, 30 Billboard Awards & sold 300,000,000 Albums - R.I.P Whitney Houston. SHE IS TRULY A LEGEND. I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYONE OUT SING HER YET!

Lil Wayne Takes Shots at Jay-Z and Kanye

Lil Wayne, who isn't really the BEST rapper on YMCMB anymore, since DRAKE has the throne, decides to stay relevant by taking shots at Jay-Z and Kanye West. After introducing his whole YMCMB clique, the rapper takes a moment of silence for R&B Singer Whitney Houston. He hints that Chistina Milian is signed to Young Money. He then takes a shot at Jay and 'Ye in which the crowd didn't take to well to that. Peep the reaction after he spews the line, "“I met a red-bone, I took the girl home/I asked her what she wanna watche, she said, ‘surely not The Throne."
