Jan-2011 was truly a year of ups and downs. Jay-Z and Kanye West started the year off with the announcement that they would be releasing a duet album entitled, "Watch the Throne." The first single "H.A.M." was released in January. New Orleans local Rappers Da U Boys released a duet mixtape with Rapper "The Show," entitled, "Eastside/Uptown." New artists Kreative Kouture popped on the scene. K. Gates dropped a video featuring T.Pain and Rapper Joker dropped, "Please Don't Go" video featuring La of A Dose of LA.
March-Rapper Fabolous dropped the first video for his mixtape "The Soul Tape" at the end of January. Nicki Minaj blew up the scene with her "Moment for Life" video and numerous appearances. While Ciara and 50 Cent "Twitter Beefed."
April- Law aka Crack Track of Traffic Boutique dropped his mixtape "Live and Maintain." Love and Hip Hop member Chrissy proposed to Rapper Jim Jones to no avail. A silly #H. Young Jeezy dropped another single off his much anticipated TM103 entitled, "Ballin." The Rap Pack dropped their video for "Oh La, La." 10 Ward Buck released a book, entitled "Definition of Bounce."
June-New Orleans Rapper Buzy came back on the scene with his first single, "I Wanna Know." Drake dropped the first single off his sophomore album, "Trust Issues." Beyonce released her video documentary "Year of 4," in anticipation to her new album 4. The whole world began PLANKING and posting pictures all over the Internet, celebrities included. Beyonce 4 album was released.
Drake released the video for "Marvin's Room." Lawrence Parker gave his 2nd annual Nola Summer Jam in New Orleans.

Singer Monica and NBA Player Shannon Brown wed in what was a beautiful, star studded wedding.
July-Rapper K. Gates dropped his video for "Fall of the Pharaohs." Singer Amy Winehouse dies at the age of 27. Cause of her death is still unknown.

Kelly Rowland released a new song, "Feeling Me Right Now," talking about masturbating. Jay-Z and Kanye dropped the video for their second single off "Watch the Throne," entitled, "Otis." New Orleans Rapper Natee released her "Switch" video, which she sent to World Star Hip Hop. Producer Timberland saw the video and immediately flew her out to his studio the next day.

New Orleans own Marshall Faulk made the NFL Hall of Fame. He took the trophy with such grace. He represented the city well. President Obama turned 50 years old. Drake released another single called, "Healines," and Nicki Minaj had a wardrobe malfunction while she performed live on Good Morning America. She told America Good Morning while flashing her tits.

August- "Watch the Throne" drops and sets record for most digital albums purchased in one week.
Jay-Z celebrated by setting a bottle popping record at Club Liv in Miami, Fl. New Orleans Rapper Codac released his video, "Spit." Rapper J.Cole released his video for "Work Out." Common came with a new single and video featuring Rapper Nas called, "Ghetto Dreams."
Lil Wayne broke Jay/Ye's record. Not only did his album "The Carter IV" have 2 million illegal downloads, it sold 1 million in one week. Lil Wayne dropped a very dope video for his single, "How to Love."
Queensbridge Rapper Prodigy of Mobb Deep released a book, entitled, "My Infamous Life." The book caused some controversy on the East Coast, because in the book Prodigy calls Capone of Capone and Noreaga a rat and he also talks about a few other people, including Nas and Jay-Z.
Beyonce announces her pregnancy on the MTV AWARDS mid performance.
September- Rapper Meek Mills dropped the video for "I'm A Boss," under Rick Ross's MMG Label. A Dose of LA was nominated for BLOG of the YEAR at the Nola Hip Hop Awards.
Big Sean dropped the video for "Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay" feat Kanye West. Basketball Wives L.A. started their first season and Rapper The Game took it upon himself to let the world know that there are alot of undercover Gay Rappers in the industry. Da U Boys dropped "Tha Shut Down," their first album. It was released on itunes. Da U Boys made the top 10 in Gangster Rap releases for that week.
Fabolous and Ray-J get in a minor scuffle backstage at the Palms after a concert. Trombone Shorty released a new album called, "For True." New Orleans Rapper "Shawt" dropped a cute video called, "Father Figure."
October- Queen of Hip Hop Sylvia Robinson dies at age 75. Jay-Z announces that the New Jersey Nets will now be the Brooklyn Nets and will be moving to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The Nola Hip Hop Awards came and went. There were many surprises, but all deserving. Jay Electronica released new music, "Call of Duty." People began to question if Beyonce was faking her pregnancy after her belly flopped on television as she tried to get up to adjust her seat. Chris Paul wed is girlfriend/baby mama of some years.
New Orleans Rapper Jay Jones dropped his first Single feat. Kangol of Partners and Crime, called "One Hundred." T.I. gets out of jail and announces new book "Power and Beauty." He wrote the book while locked away in Federal Prison. Paasky released his video, "Fillmore Slim," and The Y-1's released their "Hard Head" video. Jay-Z signs Rapper Jahlil to Rocnation. Rapper Lil Dee God's Gift is arrested for his "Heart Listens" video shoot. The video is released later after they get out on the bogus charges the J.P.S.D. charged them with. Definition DJ J. Skillz drops his mixtape "Audio Orgy." K.Gates releases his album, "The Shaikdown," and Jay Jones drops his mixtape, "Only If You Cool Enough."

November- Jay-Z is named GQ's "Man of the Year." Nas drops a single featuring Amy Winehouse called, "Like Smoke." Ludacris gives Drake and Big Sean a history lesson and Drake drops is sophomore ablum, "Take Care."
Davida Chanel presented the Stage Play, "Hip Hop is Alive." Actress Adrione Domino did her thing in that joint. Rapper Codac dropped his video for his single, "Survive." Master P comes back with a mixtape entitled, TMZ (Too Many Zeros.) Beanie Sigal and Freeway do a show in New Orleans. They then took to a cypher with some local rappers. That was mad dope.
Birdman, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne drop "Why U Mad" video. Da U Boys drop a video featuring their 1st artist Strait Jigg called, "Body Ni**as."
December- A Dose of LA rocked it out at the "Watch the Throne" concert VIP style with Beyonce and Friends.
Dee-1 was nominatted for XXL Freshman of the year award for 2012. Strait Jigg released his 1st mixtape, "Ove Ya Dome." Chicago Bears Wide Receiver Sam Hurd was arrested on drug charges. Former New Orleans Hornet Chris Paul was traded to the L.A. Clippers. Mystikal signed with Cash Money Records. Alexander McConduit released a new book, "The Little Who Dat Who Didn't." Old Rapper Canibus ended the year with a weak ass diss to J.Cole. BTW J.Cole also dropped and album this year. It was dope too. I just don't remember the exact month. Nelly dropped a new video for his new song "Too Country," Featurung T.I. and 2-Chains. Floyd Mayweather got sentenced to 90 days in jail for domestic violence and Mack Maine got hit with them child support papers. Nicki Minaj ended the year dissing the "Stupid Hoes," and Dee-1 dropped a video shouting out all the XXL Freshman nominees. Last but certainly not least...2-Cent gave us what we needed in their "Odd Christmas" video.
