The Youtube Sensation/Rapper/Comedian Anthony "Coo" Barre' aka Messy Mya's funeral arrangements have posted. There are various events happening this weekend on the slain star's behalf.
The funeral arrangements are as follows: Sat. November 20th at 9am. St. Peter Claver Catholic Church at 1923 St. Phillip Street in New Orleans, LA. Directly after the funeral will be a repass (a get together after funerals for non New Orleanians) and block party at the park across from the Iberville Housing Projects where Messy Mya used to pounch all the time, hence his song "Iberville."
Friday the Barre' family is hosting a "STOP THE VIOLENCE" march on behalf of the slain rapper. It will be held at Rapper/Activist Sess-45 Nuthin But Fire Records Store 1840 Claiborne Ave. for 3:30pm. A rally and candlelight vigil will be held directly following.
A message from Messy Mya's big sister Angelle Barre'
“I don’t want my brother’s death to be just another unsolved homicide in New Orleans. Hundreds of people were at that party so I know somebody saw who killed him and what happened,” said his sister, Anjelle Barre. “He was a talented person and loved by many. He was about to become a father. Enough is enough. Please stand with the Barre family in speaking out against my brother’s death and senseless violence,” Barre said in a statement to the press.
There will also be performances by Magnolia Shorty, Elm Boi Peg, Crowd Mover Crystal, Big Freedia, and Sissy Nobby following the speakers at the rally. DJ Showboy CJ will be on the one's and two's.
On Sunday, at around noon, Messy Mya's family and friends will host a memorial block party at the intersection on Elysian Fields and Sere Street which to his fans and friends is known as "Messy Lane."
