On Sunday Nov. 15, 2010 New Orleans underground Rapper/Comedian Anthony "Coo" Barre' a.k.a. Messy Mya was called home to rest. It was the same day he was having his unborn child's baby shower. He was excited to be expecting a baby boy Juelz Amyrion Barre.' According to the WWLTV news, he was shot 5 times in the neck and back around 8pm and pronounced dead on the scene. Someone even posted a picture on Twitter.com of his body as it lay on the ground, blood dripping and all. Messy Mya was very talented and probably one of th

e next to make it big from our city. He was a skilled rapper on the N.O. gay bounce scene as well as a talented dancer and a very funny comedian. His death comes only one day after his friend Rodney a.k.a. "Money" drowned in a Kenner canal after being persued by Kenner police for

department store theft. Mya who was often known for saying, "And b*tch I said it, now who gone POP me?" has indeed been popped. I hope and pray that someone comes forward with information as to who did this senseless murder. His last Facebook.com and Twitter.com updates make it seem as though he even sensed his death. "How the World Knows Him"

Messy Mya got his claim to fame when he began posting videos on Youtube.com of himself along with his friends "booking" each other or booking random people and shaking or pounching to N.O. bounce music as well as rapping his bounce songs. He was very popular on the "GAY" N.O. scene since he first started hanging with Faggot Charles..r.i.p. Although it was often questioned whether he was actually gay or not. His videos recieved 100's of thousands of views, hence getting him booked at various clubs in and out of town as well as comedy shows. Most popular for his bounce single "Iberville," he was almost there. People from all over the world watched his videos. He onced posted a video where he talked about a message he got from a woman in Japan who was a fan of his. His original videos were deleted, but he had began posting new ones and still he was receiving thousands of hits. He was a talented rapper, comedian and dancer called home too soon. He was trying to make it in a city that shows no love. He had already lost his mother Crystal when he was a young boy and his grandfather "Pampy" Barre' who was his legal guardian had been sent to prison on federal charges after Hurricane Katrina. Although he had it tough, Messy Mya was still persevering. He was trying to make it big by using youtube as an outlet to shine and did he shine! In his death, Messy Mya reached #2 on the Twitter.com trending topics which is a worldwide outlet. The world now knows who he is, what he did and how he died. Over 24,000 people hit the like button on his fan page on Facebook.com Football player Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson even tweeted R.I.P. to Messy Mya. He got his wish. HE IS FAMOUS!!!! His lines will forever live on in New Orleans and throughout the world!! "You ugaly b*tch, You could possibly never!" "Follow me cambre!" "Say it with me now, Remmmmy!" I knew him personally and just reconnected with him this past Thursday via Twitter. He had read my blog that I had written about him last year. http://adoseofla.blogspot.com/2009/12/messy-mya.html <--- the link to that blog. He tweeted that he was happy with what I wrote and that it was sweet. He encouraged me to keep blogging. You can see the tweets on his timeline or in my favourites. We exchanged numbers and he then texted me about how excited he was about his future. He felt like it was his time. He had plans on making movies and pursuing his rap career. My sincere condolences go out to Anthony Red, Nunu, Gaynel, Reagen, Natalie, Gilbert, The whole Iberville, Angell, his baby mama "Minicat" the 6th ward, everyone in Messyland the entire Barre' family. A gem has gone on to a new life. He is in a better place now. His mother will be taking care of him.
